Because we’re better together.
Better care. Better outcomes. Brighter futures.
The U.S. Pregnancy After Loss Network is a national partnership dedicated to improving care, research, and outcomes for families with a history of loss.
Patients who have experienced pregnancy loss in the past are at a higher risk of future loss or preterm birth. The USPAL Network works collaboratively to align and advance best practices for patient-centered care while also sharing clinical data that will drive critical research.
The USPAL Network lives by a set of core principles including offering specialized training for staff, multidisciplinary support for patients, and shared research to learn from each other’s expertise. Member clinics implement the USPAL model locally and contribute insights across the Network to strengthen evidence-based care at scale.
Our Core Principles are:
- Patient profile: The Network’s core is providing care to patients with a history of pregnancy loss.
-
Equity: The Network strives to ensure that equitable, high-quality care in pregnancy after loss is available to all.
- Care team: Network care teams are multidisciplinary and able to provide high-quality medical care and emotional support to patients.
- Training: Network clinic staff undergo specialized training in caring for people who are pregnant after loss and maintain key competencies with annual refresher training.
- High-quality, individualized care: Network clinics operate according to special protocols, allowing for customization by clinic and patient.
- Mental healthcare and peer support: Network clinics ensure integration of mental healthcare and peer support with medical healthcare.
- Research: The Network tracks patient outcomes and supports high-quality, collaborative research, with Network clinics participating as their resources permit.
- Quality assurance: Network clinics complete a rigorous onboarding process and are annually recertified.
